Career in Maritime Security Logistics?

Hey everyone, it's been a while. I've been super busy at work so I've not had much time to post.

Anyway, I think I am in the market for a career change. I've been doing some research and Maritime Defense Contracting seems to be the new wave in the industry. With terrorism and piracy on the rise it's a growing field.

I've looked at a few companies but I am having trouble getting through to the right people. I have no problem traveling overseas. Some of my qualifications include:

OUPV 50 Ton Offshore/with drug card (currently renewing license)
Tech/Rescue/Nitrox certified
Excellent physical fitness review

Anyone able to point me in the right direction? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Try contacting shipping companies - The bigger ones may have people who do something like this full time....And if the don't they certainly know who does. I'm willing to bet many of these jobs are overseas...

We had a guy speak to our Rotary Club a few weeks ago and he does consulting work for Maresk and his topic was on security for their shipping line. He lives in my neighborhood and he might be able to point you in the right direction.

maybe even one of the maritime academies can help you out. i got to SUNY Maritime and there is actually a port security minor available so there msut be information on what you are interested in.

I was actually going to use them for training. However, the cost of traveling to the facility and actual cost is quite prohibitive.
