Deep- I came up with two options with Nero.
Option#1

Open up your nero program. Click on "make your own video-DVD". Now click on make a movie. On the window on the right where it is showing your media files, click on the lower left button, then click on "browse and add to project".Click on the "My Computer Icon" and then scroll and click on your dvd that is in the drive. Click on Open and it should start loading it into the movie maker screen. After it is finished loading(takes a long while), then save it and put it in whatever file or folder you want for future editing.

Option#2

Follow the same procedure above with the "Click on Make your own video-DVD". When you get to the next screen where you have several choices, there is a choice to capture from an external device(such as your converter) and then follow from there. I'm just not sure what cables you will need to connect from your computer to the converter.
