Anybody know what you have to do to upgrade your license? Do you just have to show documentation or do you need to retest to get the license. My license is about to expire in 2010

If you want to renew, all you have to do is show a log of your sea days and pay the renewal fee. You can get the application at www.uscg.mil/stcw if you let it expire, you will have to retest! If you want an upgrade, you have to show service on a larger tonnage vessel.
