I certainly appreciate the time and effort Capt Fred shares with us. While I don't run spreader bars very often, I certainly think about my spread as a school of bait.

Actually I wish he had a website - When I went looking for his books (before I joined Sportfishermen.com) Amazon Used was the only way I could find them.

And a lot of times you just plain sit on the sidelines and let it roll. That is mostly what I love about this site, is that you can voice your opinion and not get shut down!! I did not set out in any way to hurt the man, I was actually trying to help him in my mind anyway. You know what I always say to you about the power of the internet. I was just trying to explain that a small ad would benefit him greatly in $$ and in the respect department. Well what I did not take into consideration is that a financial living in the world of fishing is about as hard a living as it gets. Most individual are doing it solely for the quality of life thing. Fred Archer's whole life has been one of fishing for his lively hood. And that right there deserves respect!
If you have not already done so, and knowing the class act that you are you might have told Fred that he does not have to pay for a banner.
I would like to pay for the first two months of the cost of Captain Archer's banner.
It is the RIGHT THING FOR ME TO DO!!! You know how to get a hold of me just let me know how I can get you the funds and how much!!!

One of your very happy members!!!!!!!!

I think this site is pretty unique. There are so many professional people here ready, willing and able to share knowledge with the rest of us. We have lure makers, rod builders, commercial captains etc. all sharing thoughts and ideas.
If someone is promotting their product I think of it as a INFOmercial.
With a huge emphasis on INFO. I welcome any input they are willing to provide both on technique and products to help me catch more fish. I've found many products and ideas I never knew about here. Bring it on guys.
I'll take in all you can put out. And thanks

For those who have nothing but negative comments.

Fred Archer is one of those regular Sprotfishermen.com contributors who make me feel honored to be a part of this community.
He is, no doubt, an accomplished professional fisherman and deserves, if nothing else, respect for having succeeded where most of us would fail. In addition, Fred Archer comes across as a decent, well balanced, compassionate and modest human being, qualities rarely associated with "super star" fishermen.
    Thanks for the thread John.
Thanks for hanging out here Fred.

I am humbled and sincerely and deeply moved.

What more can I say, besides "Thank You All"?

Thank You Captain Fred, you've supplied the site with some incredible insight and for that we should all be grateful. Keep up the good work.

Well, I've been following this thread with much appreciation and gratitude to admin for starting it.

It was nice to see people coming together. For once I thought maybe the a-hole bullies could sit one out. But they are just too fond of their own voices.

I haven't read through all the posts in this thread but after reading Admin's intro, wanted to drop my thoughts.

    Through Capt. Fred's posts
    • I've learned a bit about trolling for Mako's,
    • I've heard of success with circle hooks and a shell squid
    • I've been exposed to some very different styles of fishing
    • I've also been entertained and engaged by Fred's posts
He's a great communicator and there is enormous value to this site in good content. It may not have been an advertising fee but the end result of his contributions benefit all advertisers and participants.
