Will spreader bars help in a shark slick ?
Most Definetly![]()
I am one of the NEWBIES that Fred as helped with his posts and it is much appreciated
I have really appreciated Capt. Archer's posts. In fact I print them and keep them in a "how to" binder. I also email a link to all my fishing buddies so they will be educated on techniques. Thanks Capt. Archer!!!!
Ok it's quite simple, here on Sportfishermen.com there are many different forums with many different topics. I personally only read and post replys to topics that interest me. Lately I see people who are out to get others and I don't understand why? We are all here for the the same reason last I checked and that reason is to learn about sport fishing from some of the best in the business. Do people promote themselves and there buisnesses? Hell yeah. But if you look past all that, you may just learn some new tricks to make your time on the water a little more enjoyable. Keep up the posting Fred. I want to learn more to make myself a better fishermen.
I don't mind people promoting their products or services. Especially if they do it in an entertaining and informative way. Hell, it might be something I need and don't know it yet. I would rather buy stuff from people I "know" from the forum than from some unknown shop somewhere on the internet. I like the idea that if I have problems or questions I know right where to find the vendor.
It's all good.
welcome aboard fred. Now how much is that spreader bar in the window?
I enjoy Fred's writings. Always will and refer back to them time to time. I have cut and pasted important parts of all posts on this site in a series of word documents. It makes it readily accessible and gives an edge to ones knowledge. Not fishing as often as many or as long as many on this site, I need all the edge I can get. Fred if you need any help with videos or slide shows pictorials ....to promote your product....I will help you......flat
good lucks in 2008![]()
Admin- Thank You for posting this.
I've never had a problem with Fred promoting his stuff.
He is a living legend and the fact he comes on this internet forum and shares everything he knows proves what kind of guy he is.
He sends readers to his books because they contain more detailed info than his posts. His posts are already long! If I wrote a book and was trying to explain one of the concepts in it- I would tell people to go buy it too! He also believes in his spreader bars. Big deal- if you don't like them don't buy them.
I've never met him but he is a class act in my opinion.
Hooligan, that's a good thing you offered.
I first read one of Fred's books maybe ten or twelve years ago, and I have learned a ton from him. When I read "Modern Tuna Trolling" it changed the way I thought about trolling for tuna, and it improved my effectiveness dramatically. Long days trolling all over creation and catching a few bluefish started getting replaced more and more by days of releasing more bluefin then I could keep, while the stock biomass was deteriorating. I owe a good part of that to his principles which when applied to general experience are extremely effective and applicable everywhere.
Fred's posts continue to give me great new information that helps me catch fish. Like him or not, there is no denying that he is an innovator and one of the best all around fishermen in the world. It's funny watching people knock him who haven't accomplished anywhere close to what he has... maybe they are such great fishermen they already know everything he says and don't care to consider his opinion. Also, I guess a guy doesn't have a right to make a living in the marine industry, even if he has dedicated his life to it, writes great books and makes products that work.
It's sad the way he has been treated by some here... I hope he sees more posts like these and continues to share his knowledge with those of us who do in fact benefit from it. I hope you keep sharing Capt. Fred.
John
