CApe MAy to Morehead???

Anybody know what the usual drive time from Cape May to Morehead NC is? Any easy short cuts etc???
Not gonna say anything just yet but the Deep idea mill is working overtime...

Deep- I'm guessing about 8 hours...........give or take a little.

Mapquest says 8 hours 56 minutes..............392.8 miles

deep, if you are going straight to cape may, i would run 95 into va, glenn w can give you the shortcuts, go over the bay bridge tunnel, into md into del, then nice ferry ride.

if you catch it right, im betting 7 hrs.

Timing the ferry is everything. We left Ocean City at 9:30 AM and had to wait for an hour for the ferry. All said and done with very few pit stops, we rolled into Greenville at 10:00 PM that evening. Lewes, VA was the real pain in the hind parts though. The tourist traffic had everything bottlenecked going both ways so you just had to wait it out. If you aren't going to be making the trip during the peak tourist season, I would think you could do it in 8 hours- 9 max. I don't think you will save much time doing the I-95 thing because you will have to go around your butt to get to your elbow avoiding the ferry ride and you wouldn't want to stay on I-95 all the way down until you hit Hwy 70 in NC. When you are ready to make the trip, PM me and I will help you map out a quick way to get to Morehead.

tunnel to Lewes ferry sounds like the fastest, but I did not do a route ticket. The hours going through Washington, Baltimore, 95 in Delaware, Delaware memorial bridge, and the smaller roads to cape may will need a perfect time of day. Traffic and weekends need to be accounted for.......I would say 12 hrs during the day traffic and shave time off for the red eye drive @ night

Deep I lived in Nc for 4 years. The fastest way is 95 over the Delaware memorial bridge to 40 east, rt 55 south to 47. I forget the roads in NC I believe it is 70 west to 64 to 95. Marty can help you out. Best time is ever did it was 7 hours 15 minutes. We are talking alot of triple digit driving over a hundred. Best guess if you leave at the right time and avoid Richmond, wash and Baltamore traffic im going to say 8 and a half hours.
