CAN ANY BODY TELL ME WHERE HIS IS FROM ?
As the blue water sport fisherman approaches the grounds, the crew start placing the tackle in the rod holders and attaching the rigged baits and trolling lures to the double lines. the outriggers are set out and the first lines are streamed behind the boat by setting the lever drags to 'FREE' and controlling the spool by hand as it spins on four precision ball bearings untill the baits are riding in the wakes. these lines are attached to the outrigger clips and run out to their proper position to form the trolling pattern. now the drags are set in the
"STRIKE" position with the warning clickers set to "ON" ready with the pre-programed drag to set the hook and control the fish. other lines and lures are streamed from gunnel holders and transom holder to fill out the pattern
behind the boat and the reels set at strike with their clickers ON." the pitch of the diesels changes as the boat reaches the correct trolling speed and everyone
settles down to await the action to come. as the boat maneuvers, covering as
'much water as possible, spray wets the reels in their holders but the heavy anodizing, stainless steel and chroming keeps the potential corrosion at bay the captain makes another course change to pass near some FUNNY WATER
unusual ripples on the surface, and calls out GET READY the baits pass by the ripples and water boils among the baits. hes in the pattern!!! water explodes on on the bait. the mate runs to the reel and moves the drag lever backward
untill line slips from the reel and drops the bait back toward the fish. another
explosion of water. the drag is returned to STRIKE and the line retrieved, again and again untill the savage strike. its a billfish!! HE'S ON... and running
the warning click screams as line is stripped from the reel under the control of
the strike drag. the billfish runs across the stern as the other lines are cleared
and the angler jumps into the fighting chair. with the clicker OFF line still peels from the spool. the angler disengages the lever stop button and cautiously moves the drag lever up the quadrant scale to the four setting and
observes the tip to drop further but remain steady.. as obvious sign how incredibly smooth the drag is performing. the billfish slows and the boat begins maneuvering closer to recover some line. the reel frame begins to warm as the built-in cooling fins do their job of venting heat away from the drag. the cooler drag continues to smoothly, yet grudgingly release line untill the fish is
brought to a stop. the lever is moved to six as the angler pumps in line. the spool begins to fill. when half of the line is recovered, the lever is returned to the strike setting because this fish is still green and has more runs left in him
there he goes again!! leaping and rocketing across the surface. the drag again smoothly releasing line and maintaining control like you've never seen before. as he slows, the drag lever is moved forward again and the spool fills.
there he is surfacing behind the boat thrashing right and left. the line is in sight and comes closer to the rod tip. once the line has made a few around the spool the mate stands bt the with the tagging stick. now is the time to move the drag control lever to the FULL setting. this will give last minute control of the line as the fish feels the tag before the mate cuts the line.
as the angler watches this noble gamefish swim away he can finally relax
and appreciate a good days fishing, a good battle from the fish and the blue water that made him a winner...
good luck
