Yes easy to grow. Always has been always will be. But to grow good quality that takes a bit of effort unless you are lucky. Not all smokers are pot heads. People from all walks of life smoke weed and alot of them will not grow it as they dont have the time or inclination. With full scale legalization you will see more growers come on line. However the californian market will become saturated and the price will drop (if it isnt made more expensive via taxation). Alot of this weed will still go out of state to supply markets there. The great thing though is it is small operators who are growing all this weed. Small business at its finest. Young folk with a backyard or basement full of weed and both them and the gvt will have cash in there pocket. I commend the people of California for doing what they are doing.

Up untill a few years ago one of our states here in Australia used to have very liberal marijuana cultivation laws. You were allowed up to 10 plants with a very small fine if you were caught growing. Every body was growing (i mean everybody) and selling to whoesalers who would run it to the east coast. While it wasnt taxed and trafficking was highly illeagal it sure helped the states economy when people had a spare 60-120k cash a year in your pocket. Pressure from the federal govt and other states saw these laws were rolled back. However many just kept on growing. I have spent some time down in South Australia on busines and was amazed. Marijuana was not taboo, it was cheap if not free and barley policed (riding your push bike with out a helmet is another story). Just decent folk making a dollar (and a few scumbags to).

I garden. At least one of the bad boys on this board do too.

Neighbors who also have substantial yards and flower beds don't hesitate to ask me for vegetables. I gladly give them to them. But I also remind them that some of the vegetables I grow "grow like weeds" and are virtually no care at all in Texas, so, why don't they grow their own?

Absolutely no one has taken me up on the offer of free seeds to plant their own (we always have some left over).

I think I live in an area that's just too affluent (and Republican, at that). They're lazy as the Mexicans they criticize for laziness. The don't garden, mow their own grass, paint their own homes or even stoop to sweeping their own sidewalks.

I seriously doubt any of them would grow marijuana. But I surely would.

By the way, even alcohol can be distilled legally without paying taxes on it if the intended use is personal. That would work with marijane too...easily.

Wow. I should've put a poll on this post.

I'm surprised at how many folks on this board are pro-legalization.

And, I mistakenly thought you were all just a bunch of rednecks.

I have a neighbor, a gay Republican who lives alone (yes, I specifically injected his "gender preference" and political affiliation to make a more subliminal point), and he and his "buds" smoke a good deal of "buds" when they're getting it on (l'll leave the definition of that to your imaginations but it involves a lot of hot tubing).

Anyway, the place reeks of weed and the vapors seep throughout the neighborhood. Absolutely no one who lives within about two or three houses radius could not know.

He's never been reported, now going on 5 - 6 years. Again, I live in an affluent, Republican-dominated neighborhood.

Anecdotal, for sure. But I take it as an indication that there's a lot of sympathy here for both pot smoking and alternative lifestyles that the Republicans practice in their private lives but may condemn in their public lives.

So, like the response on this board to this post, there's something real about the sympathy folks, in general, feel about legalizing or, at least, tolerating the use of marijuana.

I don't know even one tobacco smoker who grows tobacco.

You're describing the stereotypical stoner. Most people that smoke pot aren't like that. The stoners will probably grow their own, but what about the doctors, lawyers, teachers and others that smoke? They won't grow it. Not everyone that smokes is a pot head, and not everyone that drinks is an alcoholic.

There are already driving under the influence of drugs laws out there (DUID). They're pretty much the same as a DUI.

The ones I know that smoke pot are doctors and lawyers. Im just saying it wont be about tax revenue as much as cheap pot thats legal. Let me ask you this.........if the govt is so good at running everything then why dont they legalize it and collect tax on it? Its not a moral question anymore, is it?

For me it's kind of like music, if I didn't like it then I don't like it now...so I didn't smoke it then, I'm not going to now even if it's legal or free for that matter...but I really don't care if anyone else does....or if they grow their own...kind of like booze, if you like it drink it....I do.....take the law enforcement that is arresting potters and spend it on Mexican infiltration.....

    Longfisher,

GEE and all this time I thought the only reason that Prop was on the ballot was to get all the liberals out to vote since the Democrats are in such tight races out there.

I think liberals are a waste of good oxygen but that is really good strategy.

I spent a lot of time in Viet Nam during a certain period of "unpleasantness" and became familiar with my troops using it. I personally could not see the difference between that and Carling Black Label (yes, that was what was available in the Autumn of '65) and what they told me was some of the finest weed that was ever encountered, as far as the troops performance was concerned.

Tax it. Why give the money to the bad guys? Does anybody remember prohibition?
