C Hooks
I know this subject has been around the block but I just wanted to pass on my experience. I fished on a friends boat Saturday and fished only circles. They used 130 fluro and 9/0 Owners. All hooks were crimped and a strand of copper was attatched. The hook was on top of the head and the copper came down through the head through the eyes and around the hook .It came around 4 times then ended like you do a J. When fished with an illander the hook was protruding way up past the hair so as not to hinder the hook up I guess. We set the rigger clips as light as possible without tripping and the drags were set on the high side. We had 4 solid hook ups using this method. I am in no way saying this is right or wrong just wanted to pass on the info.

Life is not a popularity contest...
I am with you on that...
When I am holding the rod with tuna I give no second count, just steadily increase the drag. I always see the line come tight and engage the reel. With big baits for bills a much longer drop back. It is a feel thing and experience is huge. With time you will notice a "change" in the speed of dropback. When you notice the "speed up" I wait a micro-second and lock-down...

Same with whitey or a sail on a dink...
feel the turn and engage the drag...Not too different from before with J's but better imho...Many hate them, but the hawaiun(cant spell that word tonight) islanders made that same hook design from bone and shell 5,000 years ago. That says we are behind the times, so embrace circle hooks for what they are...EFFISHIENT...
