I stopped reading after this:
Then, according to the recollection of two people in the room, Bush added, "I had to endorse him. But I'd have endorsed Obama if they'd asked me."
2 people.......seriously?
...whether Bush would have endorsed Obama, but rather, why Bush wasn't asked for an endorsement from Obama.
Think poison pill.

Rrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiight.......
Democrat candidates ask Republican Presidents for endorsements and get them all the time.
I'm sure Longfisher is going to call me stupid again, but am I the only one who sees how ridiculous this concept is?![]()
IE8 says this may be a phishing site....Well, DUH!!!!!!... Stupid jerks can't even spell fishing right.

This is believable. Back in the 2000 primaries McCain and Bush kicked each other in the nuts every chance they could. Remember when Bush did robocalls telling everyone McCain had fathered a black child.

I wish he had... Would you have voted for him then?![]()
I think it's important to consider what Bush's motive(s) might have been to endorse Obama. I think we can make a pretty good judgement of the basis of his character as revealed during is 8 years in office. In my view, and in the view of majority of Americans, Bush's character was near sociopathic and certainly nacissistic.
If you don't know those two words or either of those two words they're worth looking up, particuarly for the right-wingers on the board and particularly narcississm. That word does not entirely describe the rabid sort of conservative Bush is and some of you are but it's darned close. It leaves out only the concept of punitive contempt for others which is better described by the word sociopathy.
Unfortunately and despite a lot of searching I've not found a single word in the dictionary that incorporates both of these two concepts. Perhaps someone will volunteer one, and I'd be thankful.
For the time being, I'll use the word Republican to incorporate these two concepts (note, I chose not to use the word Conservative).
Anyway, Bush appears for all the world to be a narcissist with sociopathic tendancies. Given his contempt for McCain and his statment that he probably wouldn't have voted for McCain you can pretty well imagine that one of his motives would have been to stickit to McCain again and maybe even deliver the coups de grace to McCain's run for the presidency. If at the same time he could have stuck it to Obama with a poison pill recommendation / endorsement it the act would fit perfectly into the series of heineous things he'd done as president.
Would people still have voted for Obama. Yes, I think so. Most but those on boards like this figured Bush out a long time ago and his actions would have been transparently true to people's existing impressions of him.
Obama was elected to be the anti-Bush. He wasn't. In fact, were he a product the company that produced him would be in line for a lawsuit for false advertising (lies, I like to call them). As a consequence, he'll be a one term president. Good riddance.
I'm hoping Feingold will run.
