This offshore drilling lobby is the biggest political scam on U.S. despiration since Nixon's Price controls.
    So what?

Show us the way almighty Moonbat!

Flat...no doubt we're lucky Bush, not Gore was there to handle the mess after 9/11. I commend him on most of his actions. Where he has failed is acting as a RINO...Growing govt. spending $, and letting the dems beat him up without any reply to defend himself. Communication is the key to this game. The American public will believe anything if you wrap it up in a nice little package(ie: Ethanol, Global Warming...etc.) Neither Bush could figure that out.

This mix it up forum is rife with my recommendation on how to bring oil prices back into line and maintain stability.
It is also littered with requests for anyone to provide a single--- just one--- credible, non-political, source quantifying or estimating any material impacts on oil prices as a result of this political feel good lobby that counter every other expert in the industry----- I have yet to see one here or anywhere in the "real" world. It would be nice for all of us if this were a potential solution and then the issue of evironmental risk and the desire of broken promises to preserve a wilderness area could be objectively evaluated and seriously considered.

What is real world is the need to start working towards being moderately energy independent.

When I find the crystal ball you're looking for I'll let you know , but the bottom line is there is a laundry list of things out there the need to be done. I've posted them plenty of times. Nuclear power expansion, use of solar and wind power, exploring for oil where we know it exists and lifting the bureacratic red tape that is making many methods of expansion difficult if not impossible for the private sector to take advantage of.

This "real" world you speak of has been so perverted by the web of govt. regulation that it's not "real" at all.

Broken promises to who? The Caribou? Let's get serious here. Oil exploration is safe, and environmentally friendly.

No amount of jackasses sitting around on Capitol Hill are going to solve the problem. Someone has to have the balls to take a chance and say FU to their supporters. I'm not holding my breath.
