Budget Cuts, X-BOX and Inefficient Department of Transportation.

Seems everytime the news comes on you here about a budget cut needing to trim things up...

Last Friday I was heading E on I-64 looking at the impressive snow storm damage to trees along the way. While discussing the state cutting teachers jobs, the pavement falling apart and now you can't roll your window down in fear of having a tree smack your cheek.

What next?

Seems VDOT has a crew working on something as we approach a large VDOT dump truck with one of the big "Move Over Arrow" signs bringing trafffic to a crawl. Get closer and see a second Big VDOT truck and then a third Big VDOT truck. Whats this? A VDOT Chevy 2500hd truck pulled over with a guy running shotgun probably sipping coffee and the drivers door wide open. Appears with all the budget cuts our VDOT crew doesn't have a saw any more as the driver is snapping tree branches over his knee and under his foot pitching them over the gaurdrail...

WTF!!!

Where is my video camera. At least a 5 man crew driving $3-400,000 in equipment and they don't even have a saw to cut the freakin tree!!!

Lets save a teachers job here and park the 3 move over trucks, let the drivers play X-Box back at the shop while the 2 guys in the 2500hd use a yard sale chain saw towing a move over arrow.

Seems a single arrow should take care of the hazard and the guys could rotate the days of the week giving them time to work on their X-Box high scores!
