Glenn thanks what a good read! How does the jig(mold) work is it like a traditional mold where they lay the glass first then build inward?

O K Im corrected. The early buddy boats were wood. but in all my memmory of davis boats 37.sea hawk 41,was on it but cant remember the name right now? including 60 ft subaru and 72 ft jersey devil all wood. I think even the 47 davis one off plug was built of divinycel and epoxy on a jig and then made into a boat? all the rest of the 47 davis boats came from molds until only recently when buddy started building jig boats again,
My other friend also owned a 1980 54' cold mold Buddy Davis. He did a refit in FL and then it sank on a trip to NY. Boat was called "Stonefree", ended up in a dumpster sitting at a boatyard for years during the insurance investigation.
I have a 47 Buddy Davis it is a 1986 and is Hull # 2 the "Good Buddy" is hull # 1 .Hulls 1 through 6 are Balsa Core hulls then they switched to solid Fiberglass on hull # 7.The origional 47 that was a prototype was a planked hull but the buddy Davis 47 was never put on the market as a planked hull .It is considered a semi production boat .The boat rides as good as any 47 I have ever ridden on in a head sea.It can get a bit squirrely in a big following sea but that is where boat handleing skills come to play.My state room is on the port midship not in the bow.It is a really nice boat but the older ones usually need alot of work as did mine when I purchaced it.It was called the Rosie and hailed out of N Myrtle Beach I renamed it the MegaBite and hail out of Rudee Inlet.I run a Charter buisness out of the Virginia Beach Fishing Center. My boat has a pair of 8v92 TI 735 Hp Diesels.I am going to repower with a pair of QSM11 Cummins next Spring. The boat weighs 45,000lbs it had a Tower but was removed as was the extended Keel helps the ride alot in a quartering or following sea.
