    Bucket List.....

With my first child on the way (due 11/1/11) I have been taking account of my life...I think I have met many of my goals so far...a few still hang over my head....I wish had taken the time when I had the money, time and inclination...still to do...can be done with child/wife....but worried I'm going to wake up one day an be 75 and its too late...

My father in-law always wanted to buy an old wooden sail boat and spend some time fixing it up...I watched him stare at the sail boats in the cove by my marina and dream..

    My list:

    1) Tsjuki Fish Market and Knife making tour of Japan

    2) Alaska fly fishing and camping (not staying a lodge)..Float river trip type thing...shore lunches and fresh fish dinners...

    3) Live on a boat ...travel and fish. Maybe in the Carribean for a year...

You guys got any un-turned dreams?

I have been lucky to have some of my dreams to come true. I still have a couple left to do. One is to fish in the Galopagas Islands. Got within 600 miles a couple of years ago but it is No ! on my list. Second is going to Australia. One extra child has put a crimp in my plans but I hope to go to both places one day. Kahi, children will change your life forever. I have raised three and would give anything to do it over again just to spend more time with them. Cheresh the time when they are young and tolerate them when they are teens. Best of luck to you and your wife.

Oh none more for the bucket list. Play golf at Agusta National. It will never happen now since my step uncle died and so did his membership.

I also thought having kids ruined my chances to do "just one more thing" wrong! although my oldest daughter is only 5 she's more fun to spend time with than most of my friends, she's full of adventure, spirit, and a great sense of humor, when she's a tad older i hope she will accompany me on yet-to-do's..( before she becomes a teen..and wants nothing to do with us)..so far she's a water baby..loves going out on the boat, helps me wash & clean after trips, thinks flying is a blast, and is curious about everything!! perfect traveling companion....trust me..your gonna love being a Dad.I sure do!

I have been lucky and done many things that most could never do or not have to opportunity to do. As I near the 60 mark, I really have nothing that I long to do or feel that I need to do now.

The forum that I host on here and the job that I am lucky to do, allows me to teach and help others and live a meager life style that I enjoy.

I guess if there is 1 think that I would like to accomplish, would be a first place finish on the IFA Redfish tournament series, mainly so there would be money to fish the series another couple of years with out it coming out of our pockets.

I'm just living a dream that allows me to watch out for my Mother each day, what more could I ask for...

Congrats on your first child. That is great that you evaluate your life. Speaking from experience plans or certain goals change to adapt to new realities of life. And when you do look back most will find that they are content with there travels in life. When the circumstances arrive to do so than by all means do so. It may not always happen on your time table. Again congrats on your family

    Kahi,

Make sure that you don't look at this "father" segment of your life as restricted duty. I have 3 grown kids (2 boys and a girl) that were raised doing what dad did. If it's a girl take her out doing exactly what you would do if it's a boy. Yes they do change some things, but I just involved them in everything. I've never been into sports much (couldn't tell you what 98% of what ball teams are from), but they all fished, hunted, cut and chopped wood, learned how to fix stuff, most of all they were "shown" how to be responsible adults. If you get the chance, make sure you are there when he/she comes into this world. I will tell you that's one of the most awesome things a dad can be around for. It'll even make you apreciate your wife more, thats after she get's done cussing you out for making her pregant! Yes your bottom lip can reach your forehead, mine showed me it could!!!! It's really an OK thing. Frank

I don't really know what I have in store for me.....but you guys offered up some good advice.....I know what not to do...that was shown to me by my folks..my Wifey is a girly girl, so maybe we just have to balance each other out with our baby girl....I appreciate the words of advice...I do plan on bringing the wife/kids on my big three bucket list items..

Went to Lobster House last night in Cape May...My wife's family has a house near there...watched a dad get his girls to eat oysters....Im excited for that sort of stuff...The idea of spending a year motoring through the caribbean appeals to me...my wife too...home school the kids for a year and really get to know each other...I read a great book called 'Black Wave"..while it didn't end too well for the dad on the boat...they had an amazing experience..really got to know each other without being distracted by TV, Internet and outside forces.. good book indeed..

For me the bucket list is short... Most everything I have ever wanted has been delivered. Sure I'd like to win OCWMO or Ma500 or perhaps all the legs of the BBC but I've landed lucky enough times that it really would amount to "just one more".
There is a fish remaining on the list I havn't done yet and it bugs me cause I could have made it happen twice... Just one big fat flat halibut... Past that I think I've caught most all I care to catch.
So for me gotta take it outside of fishing to really dream... Maybe a tour with the E Street Band as back ground vocalist. Maybe drive a race at Daytona. Maybe Carrie Underwood will realize how much she wants me... It aint likely that any of that is gonna happen but dreams are what keep us moving forward and keep us young at heart...
