    Brokeback Mako

I don't understand what all the fuss is over some trash fish

Cheating goes on all the time in big tournaments and sometimes people get caught. If you want it to be different, I'm afriad you may just have to quit fishing tournaments, because money makes good people do stupid things.

Thats just it... This wasn't really a money thing... Supposed to be braggin rights thing for which coast has better quality shark men... Regardless of the outcome, I feel the West took a lot of "Class points" in this episode...

Yeah cheating goes on. Actually less now than in years gone by. I used to be involved at management levels with a group called CAST ... Kind of like a NASCAR sanctioning body for tournaments. We actually had more problems with tournament personell twisting the rules than the anglers. In about 200 events I was involved with, there was the occasional fish stuffed with extra bait or ice. Some leaders were too long. Some other minor things. We did have one that was caught elsewhere and shipped in. That was about it for anglers. I never saw anything as blatant as this one.
Comittee rules breaking was far worse. A friend gets to the scales late and the fish still counted. A rat blue was counted as a white and won the moneythen the fish disappeared before a proper examination could be done. Allowing results changing after official scores posted, ... several days later.

Yeah, maybe not straight payout, but the sponsorships and being booked both days every weekend is the unseen bump.

I do appreciate you sharing your experiences, I'll bet you could tell some stories over a triple nonfat venti mocha.

Hey Deep C, I am not asking specifics, but I also heard a story about something of that nature. I was told that during one of the past White Marlin Open tournaments, somebody had a favorably sized white marlin shipped to them from Asia or something, and tried to pass it up as a caught fish during the tournament. However the autopsy brought to light the truth and it was disqualified. So whenever this guy tries to radio fish in from now on he usually gets a response like, "Oh yea... Has it thawed out yet??"

Maybe it is just a good story that has been increasingly fabricated over the years to become funnier, but you wouldn't be referring to this instance would you Deep C??
