Bristol Marine acquires Somerset Marina

BRISTOL, R.I. – Bristol Marine Services of Bristol, R.I., recently acquired J&J Marina of Somerset, Mass., according to EastBayRI.com. J&J Marina had been in receivership prior to the purchase by Bristol Marine.

The renamed Bristol Marine in Somerset will continue to focus on large motor yachts and sportfishing boats, adding as many as 50 jobs in Somerset and 10 in Bristol, according to the article.

The purchase of the marina will allow Bristol Marine to focus on a segment of the market that Bristol had been unable to service before due to zoning and infrastructure constraints. “We’ve made significant efforts to try to improve the Bristol facility to accommodate bigger vessels,” said Andrew Tyska, founder and president of Bristol Marine, in the article. “Basically we became stagnant and were at a crossroad.”
