Because the pipe line belongs to the state of alaska and there for is responsible for the maintenance, trust me alaska is in no fiscal trouble, each resident not only doesn't pay ANY state tax, they get paid just to live there, and they are getting paid by the oil revenue. So yeah, Alaska built the pipe line, they own it, they maintain it, its the way it should be. The people of Alaska don't want the oil companies responsible for maintaining the pipe line.
As well the oil companies don't own the rigs or the infrastructure to get the crude to the beach, there are plenty of wrongs here by the oil companies, but infrastructure is not one of them, thats simply not their business.
Anybody who files a tax return knows (or should) that revenues minus expenses = income. If expenses exceed income it's called a loss. Every taxpayer does this simple math, why is it suddenly different because BP is doing the math???
There's enough reasons to go after BP, but this isn't one of them. Just more news media trumped up sensationalism to stir the pot.
IE8 says this may be a phishing site....Well, DUH!!!!!!... Stupid jerks can't even spell fishing right.
The problem is in the messenger..20 Billion ain't apparently 20 Billion..cash is cash ..and I never heard the mention of taxes or their impact on 20 Billion..short lived which was an out and out LIE..since now it is not 20 Billion, it is 5 Billion stretched over 4 years...
Either tell the truth or shut-up..and don't say a word....just my opine.
