A good friend worked on a brand new 65 Viking a couple of years ago. The owner sold it after 1 season because he was "tired of getting beat up". I don't know about everyone else on the board, but I don't feel like I should get "beat up" on ANY VESSEL of that size. There are a whole lot of better riding boats out there, custom and production. But I guess if you want to look pretty at the dock and rarely go offshore a Viking may be OK.

The 68 64 and 54 Viking have a new hull design and ride better the the old 61 and 65's. I drove the 64 last spring, alot softer ride. You can't beat the customer service. Just be ready to burn a ton of fuel. The 52 Viking I run is a good sea boat except for a head sea. @1950rpm 30knts 80gph @ 2100rpm 34knts 100gph

Went for a ride on the 38 Cigarette Center Console cruise 65mph and topped out at 76mph

VERY TRUE THE NEWER VIKINGS DO RIDE BETTER BUT THE 50,55 AND 61 ARE HARD TO BEAT WE NEVER GOT PASSED BY MUCH BUT CAROLINA BOATS WHEN IT WAS ROUGH ON THE 50 AND 55 SURELY NOT BY ANY HATTERAS OF EQUAL SIZE AND NEVER WHEN IT WAS UNDER 5 FT. THE 50 WAS 30 KTS AT 1950 AND 36-37 AT 2400 AND THE 55 WAS 32 AT 1950 AND 38.5 AT 2425 BUT IN A BAD HEAD SEA 25 OR UNDER. AWESOME FIT FINISH AND CUSTOMER SERVICE TODAYS HATTERAS OR BERTRAMS AIN'T GOT NOTHIN ON VIKINGS. JUST ASK A SURVEYOR. MOST OF THE GUYS WHO COMPLAIN ABOUT RIDE JUST NEED TO PULL THOSE SILVER LEVERS BACK A HUNDRED OR TWO.
