Boat Fenders and Fender Covers

I searched for the proper forum for this but couldn't find one for boats!!

So I get this new set of 8x20 fenders and these cool black fleece fender covers made by Taylor Made for my boat. Only problem is I'm not sure if I'm supposed to use the fenders with or without the fleece covers.

Here is my plan. I've got crappy old fenders that I want to use in my slip and I'll attach them to my slip instead of the boat (nobody likes seeing boats underway with fenders slapping the waves)

But these new fenders with their nice new covers are going to be rigged and placed in my neat little overpriced fender holders on the bow to be used when docking other than my slip.

Do I take the fleece off? They look too nice to put in the water!

The plastic on the fenders may scratch your boat due to the salt and all on the hull. If you've got the covers, I'd use them.

Sorry to be short. There is a lot more benefit to using the fleece than not. I do like you at the dock, no fleece, and have the fleece covered fenders on bow mounts. Having covers on the fenders protects them from unltra violet deterioration which in time makes them sticky. Also if you make the mistake I did and get white, and they get stained with acid rain, you can easily slip them off and wash them, next time I buy them, they'll be black. When you are rafting the fleece makes for a quiet nights sleep, no squeaking or moaning all night. And finally if not using fleece, the bumpers become sticky and when you raft, a sticky mess turn up on both boats. My game is to have four 10" x 28" fleece covered fenders on the bow for rafting, two on one side and two on the other, in the end, my boat stays clean...everybody wants to tie up to me....

Hey man I didn't think you were short, simply to the point. I ask a simple question, you give a simple answer.

They just look too pretty to stick in the water! But that's the plan, as you laid out.

Thanks for the help.
