Boat Capsizes

Please keep the family of Scott Hewett in your prayers. Scott passed away from an apparent heart attack after his boat capsized in a terrible storm on Saturday. We heard the mayday call on the radio but did not realize someone had died until we got back to port. Ended up there were 2 boats that capsized and 3 or 4 that were struck by lightning. His boat took a large wave over the stern knocking out his motors. Another wave stood the boat on end and flipped it over. Scott and his 2 crew swam out from under the boat and were clinging to the boat when he apparently had a heart attack. Once the storm subsided some boats in the area picked up the survivors. This storm blew up with 60+ mph winds, lightning,and hail along with several water spouts and from what some that were fishing in the same area said the seas were 15 ft.

Sorry to hear that. Alot of deaths on the water this year. Just last week a scuba diver from NJ died while diving a wreck. Everyone be safe out there.

Yes..... this was so sad to hear, another example of how dangerous our sport is and how we all need to be prepeared for the worst. Prayers go out to that family.

Scott was a great guy and a great friend, as well as a great fisherman. I for one will really miss him. You couldn't be around him without him making you smile with a joke or a funny story. My prayers go out to his family.
