    DO IT

    Jim,
I cant tell you how many weddings, birthdays, baptisms, ect. that I have not gone to during the summer. I know the first time is the toughest but you have to do it sometime or your summers will be taken up by these things for the rest of your life. The problem is if you give up fishin' and go to one then the next time somebody invites you, they too expect you to give up your day for them. Its a never ending cycle. Break it now!!!!
Everybody now knows that when they send the invite my wife is the family representative and that I may show if the weather blows.

Here's a quick story for ya. I almost blew off my own wedding!!! I got married this past May in Key West on a Saturday night. I had a charter booked Sat, morning for my groomsmen. Around 1pm we were so thick into fish, we convinced the captain to stay out longer. What felt like 15 minutes later I look down at my watch and realize it's 3:30 and my ceremony starts at 5:00!!! We pulled the lines in and hightailed it back to the dock, flew to the hotel showered, changed and walked into the ceremony with 15 minutes to spare!!!! I thought I was in the clear til my lovely bride asks me during the ceremony why my best man was green? Apparently he hadn't gotten over his seasickness yet and spent the better part of the reception in the bathroom getting sick!!!!

Moral of the story, GO FISHING!!!!

    Mike

    what job....I'm too busy fishing

    All the guys are right!

If you don't make a stand...... then you will always be trapped by the social doings of life..... Some women actually get to like not having a hubby to drag around grumbling about fishing! If your wife really loves you...you will be forgiven. My hubby justs sighs and says he'll go get the boat ready! Because....I rather fish then anything else! How long can she stay mad at you any how? Make her laugh..... do something unexpected sweet.... and she'll be ok!
