Black Berry Nextel / Using as air card ?

Someone had told me I was dumb for paying 80$ a month for a verizon air card for my lab top and paying 44$ a month for unlimited internet on a blackberry.

What they said is you can connect your black berry to your labtop and then you can surf the net on your labtop.

Well i called black berry and they said you could do this with cingular and other companies.

So i said well i want to cancel my nextell account .

She said im not supposed to say this but there is a thrid party software you can use to accomplish this.

Any one know what the software is ?

As I recall the software should have come on a disc with the phone. You will need a cable and I think you have to upgrade your rate plan to include packet data (may be around $15 a month I think)

But If I can add my 2 cents...

I would not cancel the aircard. The coverage and service on the Nextel network is horrible right now. I am a vendor for Nextel and I am embarrassed to admit that. I switched to a Verizon aircard a year ago and I can not live w/out it. The coverage and speed of the Verizon Aircard is lightyears ahead of anything on the Nextel network.

Is your Blackberry through Nextel or VZW? I know you can buy whats called a Mobile Office Kit for your phone. The blackberry's that we sell come with the software for using the blackberry as a tethered modem. Call me and I will be more than happy to explain in more detail.
