What do you mean, that my bait is too big?![]()
When I was up pre-fishing for the FLW Tourney in Nantucket Sound we came across a barely alive striper on the surface. We went over and netted it to find it had a 12-inch flounder stuck headfirst halfway down it's throat. After pulling out the flatfish I revived the striper which was about 36 inches and she swam away fine.
And that does look a little like a striper but something about it screams big mullet and not bass. The stripes just don't look right for a bass. It's tough to tell though without something for a size reference.

that it is a dog eat dog world we live in!
Maybe they were feeding on the same bait fish and had a head-on collision. It could happen....
