I'll recommend the following: use which ever you can tie better and creates the least headache for you. Of the two, I happen to use a bimini but that is because I can't tie a spider worth a crap--- different for other folks. A properly tied spider will work fine if you are more comfortable with it.

    Just another lying salesman....
I have never used a bimini. I always tie a spider....I can tie one in the dark, and it has never failed me in 7 years of offshore fishing. It may one day, but not yet. I couldn't tie a bimini if my life depended on it. Well, maybe I could, but it wouldn't be pretty.

Now that is some news I was hoping to read. I can tie the spider well, I am with you on tying the bimini if my life depended on it.

Thanks Glenn. Going back to my earlier question in this forum, do you know of any fishing clubs around our area? My brother and I were looking in to finding one to pick up some extra fishing advice.

Try the Austrailian Braid, a pain to learn but one awesome knot when learned.

Go over to Tidalfish.com and make a post--- there was a local Richmond club of sorts-- don't know if it's still around.--- good guys, mostly inshore.

ShimanoJay - It's the Central Virginia Sportfishing Assoc. (CVSA). I belive Mike Nannery is the president... they've been supporters of the Wish-A-Fish Foundation since their inception. Primarily an inshore/nearshore club, but they do have some offshore guys as well.
