I cannot tye a Bimini to save my A$$, but I can tye an Austrailian Braid and it seems to go thru my guides better and is just as strong.

News Flash..........."A local mam was found today hanging in his garage, He hung himself while he was apparently attempting to film himself tying a Bimini twist. Police have ruled his death suspicious and have not ruled out foul play." Detective Tuna was quoted as saying it is the first time he has seen anyone hang themselves with 50 LB. ANDY HAHN (I BELIEVE) DID AN EXTENSIVE TEST AT THE IGFA LAB ON TYING THE BIMINI TWIST FOR MULTI-BRAID LINES AND FOUND THAT THE 12 TURN BIMINI FAR EXCEEDS THE 20 IN BREAKING STRENGTH,
BLEW HIM AWAY SO HE DID THE SAME TESTS with mono and found the same results, you can find the complete article in Sport Fishing back about 6 months,
I have been tying it since and it ties much faster, tighter and you get a much more compact knot for going thru guides....
Andy doesn't know his ass from a twist in the ground![]()
When I see the physics of why it is better than the tried and tested, then I'll believe.
This is what gets me about knots and twists--- it is all simple science-- pure physics. I have yet to see a single article that shows why this knot is better than that knot---
We can calculate 346 places of pi, but we can't show what knot is better than the other on a scientific basis

I saw the articale that TSMACK is referring to. If I remeber correctly when they tied the 12 turn bimini and the 20 turn with 30 and 50 pound test the 12 turn broke around 15-20 percent higher then the 20 turn every time. Since reading that article I used the 12 turn all last summer and never had 1 break or pull out. Then again I have never had a 20 turn break or pull out either.

This site gives great detail on all kinds of knot tying, but I didn,t see the bimini twist unless theres another name for it.
