If you like the spider knot, use it on lighter lines - say 6 to 15#. And use the Bimini on the bigger stuff.

When tying the Bimini be sure to spin your line at least 20 times. I go 25 and some people go 30 to 35, but I think it is kind of an overkill.

Not sure if this will help but it is how I tie a bimini when using 60# or heavier nmain line...........From the SFC archives from about a year ago.
