    big boats

I saw an article today that The aircraft carrier USS John F Kennedy is being retired and will end up in Phila Navy Yard. Last week when I was going over the Girard Point Bridge I was looking at the navy yard. I told my wife I would really like to have one of those boats. What a great long range fishiong vessel. Maybe a destroyer escort- sleek and fast- the lowest side boards for hauling tuna on deck. The I saw a big squarish shaped one- I don't know the type- but it had antennas and machinery all over the place. It was like a tool time special. A mans dream. All kinds of motorized stuff to play with when the fishing was slow.Makes a 26 wahoo seem small

When I was in the Navy - ('88-'90) I was on the USS CHARLESTON LKA-113 that you can see from the highway. Brings back memories of a good time in my life, except for the part of being away from my wife and new son at the time......

The Kennedy was our command vessel in '88 when we went to the Med for our 6 month "cruise". It was cool seeing the planes take off and land on the thing. Best pilots in the world in my opinion.

If you had the money, it is possible. Not military ships, but I remember hearing stories from my buddy that worked on cargo ships. My friend Dave would tell me how they had special forklift forks that they drilled holes in and mounted 2 rod holders. They would troll cedar plugs, green machines and feathers for whatever they could catch. He had pics on the back on cargo ships with mahi, small tunas, and they caught a sail off of some island. I forget which one. Now he's a head boat capt. out of Topsail,NC. Got tired of the travelling
