if you want a killer custom net, shoot me a pm or check out www.oifc.com. we do a 10' net in three different configurations (15#, 17# with stealth mono, and 22#). you won't find a better bait catching machine than the 22#, and it is less than the calusas in most cases. they all sink like rocks and they hold up well long term as well.

I have run boats all over Texas and if I remember right it is 6' limit. Jay it's just more bullshit government regulations Repair them with 12lb mono. Get to sewing! It doesnt take long

Capt . John , great stuff . I throw a 9 ft net (cut down 10 ft ) works great for me in mostly shallow water with pilchards. I like your technique and will pass it on ...tired of puttin a chumsoaked leadline in my mouth !!!! You have a strong back to pull that giant net full of bait out of the water !! I have a custom 12' with 2 lbs of lead per foot that I throw all the time. I can't for the life of me remember who made it, bit it's made right. It is great for pogies or mullet either one, which are the only live baits I net. Yes it's a bear to throw after the first few times, but I throw the way John does, which really let's the weight of the net do all the work. One thing I really like about the net is that all the lead is rubber coated so it's real quiet, which can be a major issue when the bait is skittish.
