    the best lobster roll?

Wife and I are heading north in search of lobster rolls. We made this same trip last year and she had her first lobster roll. She has been dreaming of them ever since. SOooooooo.......where can we find the best lobster roll. Destination doesn't ,matter. we are gettin in the truck and going north for 3 days and then back south for 3 days. Help a brother out!!!! she lets me fish whenever and whereever I want. least i can do is find a good lobster roll for the girl!!!!!!!

Also what is the best way way around NYC? I know this is loaded question. But I can just imagine the traffic on 95 around nyc on the 26th.

    Bill-

No doubt about this one...Abbotts lobster in Noank, CT...however they are closed this time of year.....I'll have to do some research for the second best.

If you're headed up to New England....and want to totally avoid NYC traffic....then you'll want to take the Garden State PKWY off the Jersey Turnpike just south of NYC. Take that north toward I-84 into NY State and then on to I-287 across the Tappan Zee bridge. From there you can either go farther east and take I-95 along the coast of CT......or take I-684 north to I-84 east and into CT and up to northern New England...Mass, NH, Maine..

PM me if you're plans will take you near the CT coast....maybe we can get together for dinner....cocktails...etc.

In the mean time, I'll search for that second best lobster roll.

    Lobster Roll

If you are heading to Long Island -- Hamptons or Montauk, The Lobster Roll is no doubt a classic....getting there might be tough with the traffice -- but it's GOOD!

If you are headed up my me, Rowayton CT has a great roll at Rowayton Seafood and at the restaurant....best around and a cool town to stop in.

This time of year most of the little seasonal lobster shacks won't be open, but you'll still be able to find some great lobster rolls. If you're heading through Boston, take 93north to route 1 north of the city. On Route one you will see Kelley's Roast Beef in Saugus. Don't let the name throw you, they make one of the best lobste rolls around- lots of meat, just a little bit of celery, minimal mayo, and a buttery toasted roll. There's so much meat you need to eat it with a fork. Also, you will get a kick out of the huge saltwater aquarium they have. If you get as far as New Hamshire/Maine shoot me a PM and maybe we can meet up for a beer and I can help you guys find whatever else you need.

Bill, you are within 1/2 an hour of the best lobster rolls in the world. The Maine Diner on North Street in Wells, Maine. From there, you can head up 95 to 302 in Portland, head west to the White Mtns. Best regards,

Bill If your headed toward the white mountains, then spend the night in north conway , nh. They have a couple of good bar/restaurants right there in town. We always hit the scarecrow, just north of town on the left as you drive toward mt washington, after a full day of skiing!

I second the Kelly's RB lobster roll. I think its got the meat of a 1 lb lobster in it. But you gotta do the Kelly's in Revere a little further south on rt 1 for the atmosphere. There is something about the ocean sea breeze, sea gulls and stereo systems out of lawnmower civics that is hard to beat.

There are tons of places in Portsmouth and so much to do. But much if it is seasonal and close in Sept. But you still got the Kittery trading post, and weathervane seafood. But if you are staying in portsmouth id say you cant beat the Portsmouth Brewery for a beer.
