    Best Aluminum Oxidation Cleaners/Protectants?

Guys I need a product that will remove the oxidation on my t-top pipe work. Does anyone know of something that I can use that is not to labor intensive and really cleans up the white crap on the piping? I want to clean up the piping as much as I can before I wax it this year.

    Thanks!

I generally use diluted vinegar to remove salt pitting . Its not really labor intensive but work is involved. once you get it as close as possible to where you want it to be, hit it with a few coats collonites metal wax.

If you're talking about that "milky" oxidation....the only thing I've found that even comes close is applying Woody Wax....let sit on for at least 24 hours (so no rain) and then use bronze wool to scrub it.....unfortunately it is labor intensive.

Mind you, this was on my Rupprigger outriggers......

I have not tried the diluted vinegar, but about two weeks ago I did try the following all in one day

    (1) Noxon Metal Cleaner
    (2) 3M Heavy Duty Compound
    (3) Yachtbrite Buff Magic
    (4) Flitz

None of the above worked as good as the Woody Wax using the procedure above. Also, it did NOT come out looking like "new" condition either....just better than before.

If you find something that REALLY works GREAT....I'm all ears...

I like Noxon or Brite Boy with brass wool, it is labor intensive but it has worked for me. Then seal it with conlinite insulator wax

Star brite Aluminum Cleaner. As the name implies, it is made specifically for aluminium, so no worries about pitting, discoloration, etc.

Since I did only my center rigger so far.....I'll try both the above and give a report back....

Any "special" application tricks I should be aware of??

follow the dirtections and you'll be good to go.

btw, we also make an Aluminum Polish - as was pointed out above, you need to provide a barrier to future oxidation.

If you can find our Tower Guard, you'll like it for keeping the rigging looking fresh.
