SHUNT and I had 4 different beagles when we were growing up. A 15" (2) 13" and (1) 9". These are their shoulder height measurments. They are great dogs. Very affectionate and very loyal to the owner. All of ours were VERY stubborn and like to wander. But if you exercise them regulary like you should with any type of dog, it will cut down on the wandering. If you have any type of small animals around your house they will give chase..... including cats. Remember they are hounds so they tend to have just a lil bit of odor to their coat. They will bark and howl alot even at a full moon and are natural born escape artists. These lil dogs are very smart, but they will lead you to believe they are stupid. Still miss mine a bunch. A female beagle may not be as stubborn or wander as much on you either.
$700 sounds a bit much. I think ours were around $150.00 -$250.00 a piece for a breeder of hunting hounds. These dogs will keep you in stiches though especially the lil 9" ones.
