You can build it out of either a 275 Gallon Oil Tank (for big pigs) or you can do small piglets on one made out of a 55 gallon drum![]()
Most of the redneck pig roasts I have been to use the 275 Gallon (big roasts) version.![]()
I have a friend who bought one that is custom made , it has table that comes on it plus some other nice items . I think he paid about 1500 for his , I know it is alot but his is top of the line . if you are interested I can ask where he got it .
I think I'll try the 275 oil tank
I don't think I'll use it enougfht to pay 1500. I've seen some on line that start at 2500.
Eppefour-
Do you have a pic or drawing to go by. It's not as easy to build as you may think....plus if not constructed right.....it will not draw the smoke through the chamber properly....
Good luck!
I don't have design plans. I will have to look online for 1. The one at agri supply sounds good but its a long way from New Jersey
Thanks for the link Paul... a buddy & I were thinking of doing the same thing, building a pig cooker, stuff is little more difficult to locate up here in NJ, especially finding someone with working knowledge of how its should be designed for proper air flow. I was going to visit my brother in Charlotte, said he and his buddies could put one togther in no time for me... its like second nature for them. I was trying avoid an 11 hour ride.
My wife is an engineer and she has designed several styles of cookers. I will see what she has in the line of a pig cooker. Attached is a photo of a cooker the her company builds here in Pa.
