I was told by a buddy who is an old time bally fisherman (Richard V.) from the Keys. "When times were hard he always ate bally". He told me, Years ago he would cook up a mess for his sons on the way back to the dock.

Tom H and his Brother Ricky over at Key Largo Fisheries aka Just Rite Baits fried me up a mess at their restaurant just before the start of stone crab season and they were good.. Had I not known they were ballyhoo I would have thought they were Smelts. He even filleted a few of the magnums and broiled them for me.. Outstanding!

I'm looking forward to my next trip to the Key's so I can get some more of those Just Rite Bally..These sucker were fresh just off loaded from Garret’s boat. FYI: I think they put them on the menu..Stop by and try some!! If they are not on the menu ask for Tom and ask him to cook you us some..
