Its not just for fat chicks anymore.....
Ruptured L4 L5felt like a hot poker in my back and right leg went numb had surgery at 7am was walking at 7pm pain free. 3 months of Physical Therapy too build the muscles back up now running 3 miles a day
.
Try three Ibuprofen 800s a day for three days and see if that helps...once the pain is gone do some sit-ups every day trying to get up to 25, sit-ups are the single best exercise for back pain.
My Dad injured his back 5 years ago, the doctors put him through therapy, steroid shots and all sorts of other crap for over a year before they did the surgery. After time part of his disk that had bulged had seperated and fallen against the nerves. He had the surgery I brought him home that afternoon He was pain free but he walks with a limp now from the nerve damage. Dont put it off dont live it. The doctors (insurance) will want to try the least expensive first if the pain doesnt go away quickly after any of the treatments push the issue. Spinal injuries get progressivly worse if they are not resolved, sometimes the only way to correct them is surgery.
Inow the pain mate 2 time a year Igo
to a OSTEOPAAT a session of 45 min
and 3/4 days later its gone ( sometimes 2sess)
grt Mieland keep moving
And a fragment about the size of a half dollar. Initially the sciatic will be inflamed and hurt like hell. Probably some numbness. Can be absolutely miserable. Short term is painkillers, anti-inflammatory, and muscle relaxers. After some time, MRI's, Pain Management, maybe some steroids, the initial pain and numbness should go away. Then start the PT to build up the muscles and stabilize the spine. Remember, if the numbness gets worse or you lose control of the muscles in the groin area, it is a potentially permanent condition known as Caude Equina (or something close) and that is a trip to emergency surgery. This is the best site I found for answering questions.

had the same pain down my left leg...
a few steriod shots lots of advil and 4 months of physical therapy worked wonders for me, still a little bit of pain but it gets better every day
Therapy really helped alot
went through this l4 l5
did the steroid shot worked for a little while but gives you a false sense that its all better nd you go pick something up and bam back to square one.
best bet is to strengthen your core muscles and key back muscles to help relieve the pressure
i worked with a physiotherapist for 8 weeks and solved all my problems .... stronger core and hip flexors
still do my exercises three times a week an i am pretty active with no problems
Went through it a few years back, I had 3 discs that were herniated from jumping out of my boat into the back of my p/u truck. I'm sure that's not the main reason, I also do alot of lifting at work. Believe it or not went to a good chiropracter and he gave me a tune up and have not had a problem since. I took my MRI into him and he look at it and after about 2 months of visits I was up and running with out a hitch. Not saying this will fix you, but it worked for me. I did my homework before I made the move. At first I did not beleive in them but now I'm sold.
Good luck with your problem.
