This is Huntington Beach Pier in Southern Calif.

Caught 8-22-11 The DFG officer left after the capture to get help with ID from a biologist??? (thought they were trained to ID species, you can totally tell it's a baby GWS!!!) Fisherman Bailed with Shark and all, Great White was later CONFISCATED by DFG at Newport Pier when someone called that there was a Great white on the PIER.

NO CITATION WAS ISSUED YET!! ALL THEY DID WAS CONFIRM (GW) TOOK DOWN FISHERMAN'S INFO NAME ,NUMBER ETC,,, WHERE IT WAS CAUGHT AND TOOK THE SHARK WITH THEM.

Wonder if this DFG officer is going to lose his job posing for pics (What a Tool). From what I hear the guys who caught this are also responsible for catching small threshers and anything else they can get their hands on from our local piers. Definitely not going to help the fisherman's cause with the MLPA. Just the fuel they need to get their agenda to the masses. Also note that no fishing license is required to fish on the piers and that's why you see all the illegals we have here catching juvenile threshers, Garibaldi's (State Fish & Protected), etc for the stew pot... We fishermen who spend thousands to fish legally and ethically are going to get some more bad press from these retards who either do not know the laws or who could care less...
