    B.V.I's.

I'm heading on vacation towards the end of May down to the Carribean to sail the British Virgin Islands for a week. I'm sure most of you are thinking opps looks like we got ourselves sissy sailor boy on our hands however my thinking is that i'm going to be traveling for a week at perfect trolling speeds and can turn this into a fishing vacation!! Has anyone fished these waters before? What type of species could i expect? What would you suggest pulling (keep in mind it's going to be a very small spread!)?? Any info would be appreciated.

The North Drop should just be getting started with the Blue Marlin bite. Pull a couple of Mold Craft Wide Range or Super Chuggers in Black/Purple.

I frequent there often, great fishin but don't even show your fishin rod unless you have a permit. They'll take you and your boat. No questions asked. A local fellow got bagged for having his rod in a holder on the stern of a blow boat and he's doing time, he wasn't even fishing.

Made that trip several times on a cat and trolled the whole time, nothing but a few barracudas and a jack. The north drop is about 20 miles out of your way if you are just island hopping, most of the sail charter companies will provide rods and some cheap lures for the boat.. Enjoy! I love that area...

You should charter do an offshore charter for the day out of Red Hook, they will put you on the fish and will get you to the North Drop or the south ledge, the North Drop usually heats up later in summer early fall. My wife caught her first blue there.

I spent 2 wks trolling around the bvis from a sailboat a few yrs back.

Had a bunch of luck. Including cero and african pompano.

Also Bonefish at Anegada with a guide.

Gotta be real careful with the ciguatera with any of the reef fish. Stick to pelagics!

Heed the warnings on fishing permits.

PM me if you would like more details.
