Attn Delaware Indian River marina Users

I am hoping to get some help and help the patrons of Indian River Marina and surounding boaters.
Just wanted to get some opinions on the Indian River Marina's idea of closing there fuel dock at 17:00 this season?

Please feel free to post to the thread in the IRBA website linked above. The board and officers will be meeting this weekend to discuss this and other matters and we need as much input as possible to make the changes needed at the marina. I realize not many here use the marina but for those who do it would be a help to get support.

how do you do that ????? that means if you are offshore, you have to pull lines in at 2 to race back to North Shore if you need fuel the next day. If you have anysize boat , you can't really get fuel anyplace else, you will have to divert to cape may or Ocean city.

Why not do what the gas stations do and upgrade to a fuel station that you can slap in your credit card and fuel up on your own ? Why don't all fuel docks do this and no one has to worry about it or have to sit on the dock waiting for people to come in ?

EPA and saftey regs require pumps be turned off when not in use.

There is no comparision. I am not bashing, but i feel that Indian river marinia will never be successfull and even come close to OC, NOT because of location, Becuase of management!!!

There are many reasons i say this, But the one that sticks out more than others is, while i was mating on the April 1st, we had a good day, and caught a rather large Wahoo. At the time biggest in state. The marina manager told me they would call the coastal, no problem, we would make it in for sure!

2 weeks later i called just to see, Indian river had forgot to send the pics! me and chris Raised hell, finially we got in.... CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG BUT ISNT THAT JUST MORE PUBLICITY FOR NORTHSHORE????????

Why would any decent marinia think of closing the fuel docks so early???? What about charter boats that run every day?? How in the hell are you supposed to fuel up If you have another trip!

The difference is obvious, you can't compare a state run marina to a private run marina. the interests are much different.
The IRBA as a group will meet Saturday and we will discuss how best to handle this along with many other issues. We are looking for support and input from our current and future members to carry the message to the state. I have spent many many hours building a brand new friendly website for the IRBA and hope that our membership will have a look and stay informed, we want to make it as easy as possible for everyone to join in the fight as well as enjoy the rewards of the labor put into rebuilding the IRBA back into a great organization.
