I've also used e-fax and it worked good for me. I just don't deal with Faxes enough anymore to make it worth keeping around. As I recall they had a free, or less expensive version where you get whatever # they give you, then there was an option to get a local#.

By the way, if your company does a lot of faxing you may want to consider a fax server that everyone can use. A number of our clients use them, or are implementing.

    E Fax

Mary we use efax all the time due to sensitive nature of the incomming faxes they get sent directly to my email account which has about seven layers of encryption for security reasons but the efaxes arrive perfectly into my laptop.

If it's something I need to send along to an underwriter I can just forward the same as an email and then copy yourself and archive into that perrson personal folder on your email so not to overload the system

It's inexpensive and folks really like the idea it's totally private for us and secure...

    Oh by the way

I can second the Maxemail services. I've used them for about 3 years now and works as advertised and cheap.

    from the geek

    here is a simple explanation

    Decription

Enhanced Voice Mail contains all of the features of Basic Voice Mail plus valuable extras including:
    • Extended message lengths (5 minutes instead of 3)
    • Extended retention periods (40 days instead of 21)
    • Higher-capacity mailbox (40 messages instead of 20)
    • Fax: Allows you to accept fax transmissions into your VM box and then send them to a fax machine of your choosing, to be printed.*
    • Personal Operator: Allows you to forward calls to a second destination when you do not answer your phone. Whether you choose your assistant, backup number or home phone, just alert your callers to press 0 so they have another way to reach you.*
The cost is $4.95 - $7.95 depending on area .LLady this may have went up a few pennies due to federal tax...since this publication

really true hardcore geeks are amazingly, interested in VMail Fax transmission

    geek out

    a cold.....
I've used J2 and efax. Both are pretty much the same. In fact, the J2 software will open efax files & vice versa. I only used them to receive faxes, and they both worked very well. I'm not sure how well either works for sending.
