anyone fish at dania pier?

Does anyone go fishing at dania pier or anywhere around there? I am going to be in the area and was hoping to do some inshore fishing. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I havn't fished Dania but the piers up this way on east wind produce pompano. Some jacks, runners, macks, even bluefish get got. On rare occasions you will see a "sharpie"(local) who really knows his game get a cobia, tarpon or permit off the piers.

what do YOU use to catch them, or have used.

When I go I pretty much suck. Don't have the game that the locals do. I use sand fleas and try to target pompano. The regulars know where behind the break they will be and I try to follow their lead without getting in their way...

I see guys with big sticks out usually near the ends using live runners or some times mullet heads looking for bigger stuff. If macks are around use gotcha jigs...

sounds about the same as the stuff I use, i'll try to follow the guys out their's leads. I havent fished down there in a couple years so i can't even consider myself a local anymore, thats just upsetting.

opps i live here still... forgot that... If ya don't know don't answer Deep! ... dania is a cool pier... bring a bucket for live pilchards and at least 2 sabiki hot hooks bait rigs... some cool small jigs, some 30lb leaders for pompano jacks, snook , etc... bring beer, food, a knife or scissors for bait.. there are some baracuda and spanish for toothy creatures, and some pompanos, to big runners in the daytime for just catching fish... have a great time and keep it at the speed limit on the dania beach rd the tickets are bad ... also there is a bait and tackle store on the south side heading to the beach from hwy 1 they have bait... hope this helps...

it is on the right (south) side of the road when you are going east off hwy 1.. there used to be a leather fetish shop with some sexy maniquins in the window but they are gone.. was a easy landmark.... the pier has bait also. you can also walk the beach early with some rapalas or jigs and have fun but I think by 7:30 now you have to go to the pier. the dania beach blvd bridge is right inside and has lookdowns, tarpon, jacks and snook also
