    Anybody ever hook a whale?

    We did.

Took my buddy from work out this morning looking for some bass. Find a nice pod of bunker, and theres this baby whale maybe 25 feet eating the bunker and putting on a show. Anyway, I'm livlining and my bud's jigging when he hooks up and the fish is peeling line. He's all excited, but i see a swirl the size of the boat and tell him dude you hooked the whale.

He says what should I do. I tell him hold on, I'll run up on him, all I have is a hand gaff but I think we can take him. Really?, he says with eyes bugging out.

Well, we gave it a shot, but he tried to horse him, and that whale will live to see another day

Anyway, great day, bunch of bass to 25 lb, and that country boy will have a story to tell for a long time

Dated a couple does that count?

Never a whale but a small bottlenose dolphin got drilled by a stinger hook I had pop out of a kingfish he was eating. Boy was he pissed when I went to get that hook out. Tried like hell to bite me but I got the hook back...

Had a pilot come up on the left dredge and follow the left flat during the mid atlantic 500 a few years ago on the Wired. Bite was called out first from the tower "HUGE FISH ON THE DREDGE!"
