Gee I wonder if yer as old as me 43. Most guys are doing the new surf kites. I tried it in the BVIs and found it very easy to get started. In fact way more easy then windsurfing to learn.

Before ya spend a wad consider updating yer sport. In another 5 years the only people windsurfing will be homos and old guys. Not that there's anything wrong with that. je je

    Ahi I am 46

and had a stint put in one of my main arteries a few years ago and i feel good and confident near shore on my own
no more 15 mile runs up to several miles off shore

as for kiting ,,, I probally will never get in to it

i like going real fast and i am not surre the kites can attain the kind of speed in the water

i was an avid skier over my life time and will never do snow boards
they make too much noise up here in newengland

Ok Brah,,,I watched a speed freak in the BVIs when I was there. This friggen maniac would fly about 60 straight at the double wide boatslip and just when ya think he was headin fo' da bloopers reel he would spin that fricken thing fall in a hole then 1/2 the time he had enough to make it out of the hole the other 1/2 it died

    I didn't know they went thaqt fast,,,cool

    Hey Poon,

I used to windsurf back in the 80's. Started on a big 12' HiFly, then the Mistral Equipe, then went to a Bic (short 9'-6", but can't remember the model....must be getting old LOL).

Alas, I had to sell all my gear around '90/91 (at the time had the Bic with 3 sails, 2 masts, and 2 booms) to buy a lawn tractor so I could ramp up my landscaping business to help put me thru college.

Haven't done it since, and have no idea what the gear is like today! I can only imagine LOL.

Formula ? what happened i thought we would meet at the show ?????

my last board was an 8'6" Windsurfing Hawaii that i bought during the short time they were building boards on the Island that and a 6/0 and a 4/0 was all i needed

i was contracted by WH to build Titanium booms back in the 80's and we actually produced 3 pairs over in Russia that were delivered to Larry Stanley to Test,,,, they worked great and when it came to production time my connection in Russia fizzled out do to too many political boundries and the logistics of moving the mtl from the mines to the foundries to the machine shops
They were a beautiful thing and they could lift a lincoln off it's shocks when levered under a bumper with out deforming and they were almost as light as alum
the rigidity was unparreled even in today's carbon boom Market
