I live in Jacksonville, NC and just purchased my first salt water boat. My wife and I have fished our whole lives, but not much offshore. We're looking for experienced fisherman from the area to go out with us and show us a few tricks. Please contact me if you love fishing as much as I do.

Are you guys gonna fish the King Mackerel tournament in Swansboro?

Any big rookie tips for me? My boat has 99' twin 150 Yamahas... what type of routine maintenance do I need to make sure I conduct?

100 hour service (lower unit oil, spark plugs & general lube)
Twice a year (or once if you don't run it much) fuel filter & water pump.

Remember to flush engines with fresh water after running in the salt.

make sure you learn the inlets new river, bogue, topsail, rich's they all change very often, don't just trust the buoys read the water or follow somebody the first few times.

if you are fishing SWANKMT then head south or head offshore to find kings. Cobia should be showing up soon on the beaches, spanish are around.

agree with 100hr oil/lower unit change, flush motors every trip, spray anticorrision block in the engine but try to keep it away form your belts. keep trailer in good shape, mkae sure your VHF is working before you head to far offshore,
