    ANOTHER WMO ?

We all know how superstitious Sig is on the Deadliest Catch. "No this, must have this........or I go crazy"

What are or is the most important "thing" that you must have on your boat regarding superstition? What helps you "feel good" about what you are about to partake in regarding tournaments?

I knew a captain once that had to have a new pair of sunglasses and he HAD to hose his boat down with fresh water before lvg the dock.

My dad used to have to have at least 3 or 4 cans of vienna sausages as well as fritos and bean dip with him as well! lol

Come on, cough up your tournament vices.....

I must have all my ballyhoo in order belly up and in the same direction in my bait tray before i can go anywhere! lol

I also have to have my entire spread picked out before we leave the dock.. that is a must and it must be ready or else i refuse to untie!

As far as other superstitions i am a firm believer in not drinking while fishing but i always bring ONE beer and pour half into the drink and share it with the fish gods! have the other half really quick and get the game on!

    Seems to work for me!

My list is long... Lucky shirts even some for different species. Lucky pants cross multiple species. Lucky shorts only for blue marlin. Lucky undies even. I sleep with my plier holster. Outlasted fifteen pairs of pliers... Of course lucky shoes and I am currently owner of three pairs!
I run with several pairs of sunglasses depending on lighting conditions. No good if you can't see em. I suppose thats about being picky rather than luck so lets move on.
Thwarting bad luck is also important. No fruit of any kind allowed aboard. Not just the yellow death but anything that can be related to them. I don't permit the word to be said aboard even.

Then comes my own personal really silly one... Grape soda. I can't stand the shit but I gotta drink one... This superstition stems from long back. The morning I caught my very first blue as a mate/ operator I drank one cause it was on top of the stack.
Then in my drinking years I woke up one morn with a hangover to beat all hangovers. Wanted a coke in the worst way. Only soda left in the machine was grape. We Caught two pigs that day. Exact same thing happened twice more through the years. I noticed a pattern and started my own little tradition. Works pretty good when I follow through...

I must have 2 hours sleep on the way out and take a dump 15 minutes before lines in the water.

No fruit?!?! Man i love a nice cold peach or two to wet the whistle. Even grapes, melons and whole cold tomatos are good to get the blood sugar up.

And Sport, I too, never drink while I'm out there. Not safe and I'd have a headache from hell from the heat, and engine noise!! lol

I said no fruit and meant it... We're carnivores damnit. God made all those critters for us to eat out of meat. My fore fathers spent millions of years evolving to the top of the food chain and who am I to go against the grain!
And peaches are getting awfully close to yellow in color!

I've gotta have my Bart visor, my "fishing" Costas, a fresh pack of dentytne ice gum, a fresh tin of Cope, a bottle of water - all on the bridge before I fire up the engines.

I have to have all my rods and drags set exactly to spec, have my spread on the bulkhead coolers ready to be crimped on, and in Boat Harbor, I HAVE to have my breakfast sandwich from Jaime's and a cup of coffee at the dock. a fresh can of skoal dont hurt either. if I need to conjure up a bite, all it takes is either a fresh pinch or freshly made sammich

There can't be any yellow monkey fruit anywhere on or near the boat, no RAP music on or near my ears and I have to wear my SEAMENT shirt on the first day I have got alot of big bites with that shirt on.
