Fishskipper I see where you are coming from. Im used to fishing Hatteras after the summer season ends but this year I fished a couple of weekends and MAN those tourist are a pain in the arse. Stupid question after stupid question would drove me crazy after a 5 days of fishing I couldn't think about having to put up with us yanks all summer. The locals talk to us weekend fisherman alot better in OCT NOV and DEC and know I know way know. After a few months of no stupid questions you are glad to see and talk to other people. And let me say this I would never think of retireing up here These people are most ignorant people that live in the country.

I just spent a week in the keys with a freind and eveyone I meet looked you in the eyes and stuck there hand out. I have to go the Boston to see my sister this weekend and those people are the WORST I have ever meet.

Give me grits and SOS any day.

I think everyone knows this is just in fun and thats the way I meant it to be. Not to make fun or offend any particular person for where he or she lives that would be silly. I have loads of friends and kin who live up north and I love to visit from time to time. As far as retiring here, bring it on. Some of my best friends here have retired from up north and I hope to do so too one day.

alot of florida has a bunch of retired folks running around with fake teeth, fake boobs, and a bunch of ******. Sounds like a pretty decent retirement to me. MG

Well let's see....I was born and raised in the south (NC)....then moved to the north (Long Island)....then moved out west (Colorado)....then moved back to the south (Tennessee), then moved back to the north (upstate New York)...then moved to New England (CT)....and now fish in the NE canyons and SOBX......hell I guess that just makes me confused......

Yep, they call them half-backs. Halfway back home to the NE or wherever. This is after they've spent 20 years in sunny Fla getting fed up with the Cubans, high crime and dangerous drivers. And, not being able to change it to the way it was back home.

No income tax in Fla, but plenty of fees and other little taxes. Have you priced a home in Broward, Dade or Monroe Cty lately? Add to that 4-12 thou for property taxes and another 8-20 thou for insurance, you can see why they are in NC.

You must live in New Jersey.

When do the retirees move back up north? Can you put in an express lane just for them?

    1. First of all, most southern states don't consider Florida "the south" for some reason.

    2. Those of us who are true "crackers" are rarer than a hatchet marlin. We are kind of like Texas here except we get attacked from all borders.

    3. In the summer you have the tourist/beach season, the fall brings snow birds, then in the winter it is Canadians and to fill in the gaps we have Cubans and people from every other Caribbean country.

    4. I see more and more Q-tips on the road every year, hell the only car accident in my life so far was with an 81 year old retiree from New York. She said she did not see me driving a 1983 Cadillac Coupe Deville on an empty 4 lane highway.

    5. Ever go to a store and see more out of state license plates than state plates?

    6. Not all Floridians are rednecks, those are the non-city types from the center of the state. My truck runs, is not on big wheels and tires, is not rusty, does not smoke, is not 4 wheel drive, smells and looks nice, I do not own a cowboy hat or boots, don't have a country twang accent, no rebel flag, have never seen snow, I have a high school and college degree and don't plan to retire anywhere but my home state!
