I don't have any pics right now because I am at work but I use pill bottles to hold the moulds. I think I will do what patudo said with the extra inch of rubber above the lure head and use the copper tube as a guide by putting it through the top of the mould. Thanks for the input guys if you have any input as to a good way (material that is easy to work with) for making a mould for the lead inserts that would be greatly apreciated. I don't have the ability to use aluminum or anything like that.

    lead insert mold

i've heard you can carve out a dense wood like oak into a mold, then line the mold with bondo and it won't melt with the hot lead. Not sure of that but cheap and worth a try?

Oak works great just drill the a hole the size you want cut in half with a band saw leave enough around to screw back together drill a small hole in the end for your brass tube, insert tube and fill full of lead. To make molds use pvc pipe slit one side with saw use pins through the slit to support wax model cover end with tape fill full of molding latex. Once the mold hardens remove the pins run a razor down through the PVC into the latex and into the wax pop the latex out of the pipe take out the wax and your ready to pour your lure just remember to leave the tube extra long and the latex deep enough to support it. Oh yeah before you pour the lure put the latex back into the pvc and put a hose clamp around it to squeeze it together it will almost eliminate any seems. If your wax is real smooth even clear lure will come out real nice. Im going to do a new batch this weekend i'll post if they turn out nice its been awhile since I've made any.

Hey Serprise if you want I might be able to drill some into a block of aluminum at work and cut it in half for a lead mold let me know what diameter and the length you are using. I will look around the shop and see if I can find a block or two. Is there any issues with mailing some thing like that to you? Hey guys where are you finding theu brass or copper tubes I having issues locating them?

    tubes

i find brass tubes at hardware store in section for roofing/gutters. I'll post the name of company that manufact'rs if you need it . I would love to machine a Al mold for the head inserts. You can order blanks from the 'do-it' mold company but it really is just alum block. Do u have ability to machine a Al mold for the lead insert? IT would be about the size of a tic-tac box (not quite as tall). thanks, tom

What do you want it to look like? I'm not a master machinist but I have access to a Bridgeport and a mini mill.
