Some days it doesn't pay to get up. I hqave been grumbling about the cold and wanting to go home for weeks now. The northeasters finally wore themselves out and I was at the boat in sunshine for the first time in a long time.
Stepped into the cabin and she was cold. Checked the pannel for a/c- heat and was getting a code. No cooling pump to the compressor... Just changed that pump a year ago and she shouldn't be dead yet. Called peple who installed. They cant get here til tommorrow some time so I start digging. work my way from compresser back past the pump to the relay. Fuese is good but fuse holder is shot. Yippeee! An easy fix for a change... Canvas man shows up with my new polycarbonate enclosure... Even better...
I'm headed to car for parts and decide to call marina in Florida to see what slip we'll be in when we get down... Thats when the world came to a grinding halt.
We have a little old lady that runs the books there. She has a pleasant demeanor but a nasty tendency to either ride me for payment when not late or forget important shit... Seems she and the dockmaster both went a little short on memory and rented our slip to somebody else. "Forgot we were comming..."
Try and find a usable slip this time of year in northern Palm Beach County!!!! Last year we found one that not only had three knots of side current, no piling to bank off but also silted in and had exposed defunct pipes sticking up in it.
Forgot? My ass ... Money grubbing whores found two extra weeks of dockage to collect on. We would have paid that if we cwould have known they were gonna pull this crap. Other good slips in area are nearly three times as much per month and waitlisted!
You know it all works out in the end you grumbling *******! Soon enough you'll be back in Gods country with the sun and the fish and all will be well. I for one am envious of some of "your" issues.
North Palm wants tripple price for their slips. 2400 a month! Worse than old port cove!
Lake park is full and channel a bit skinny at low tide these days.
I'm not grumbly. I'm sugarry sweet...
Death before Daytona area! 41 miles to the steeples
Besides ex girlfriends in region may want revenge...
Jib Club in Jupiter is a sweet spot. Well protected, no surge, no bridges and only minutes to the inlet.
Blowing Rocks marina a little futher North is cheapest and a good group of guys there.
Appreciate it John... Trying for something at Soverel right now... Boss wants nothing to do with Jupiter inlet. Even insurance company says no... Lots of spots around Donald Ross area but again just a smidge too far north.
Boss bought condo at Old Port and sometimes likes to take a brisk walk to boat so Soverel is about maxed for that.
Took my game to the higher ups... Squashed a few toes but got us back in where we are supposed to be... Guess it all comes down not to what you know but who you know and when that one knows customer service they know how to earn your business. Now thats done but the Thursday window I had is closing out on me so it'll probably be early next week before another window... Will not put 15 to 20 right on the bow...
