Pretty Sad... I spent 22yr working in the Bering Sea Crabbing and Longlining. Was lucky I guess to make it that long. I sunk in January 2002 not much fun but being a well seasoned crew really help a pretty bad situation. Those poor guys on those catcher prosscesors are pretty green with no exp... most don't even speek english. I'll have to say a few more prayers tonight. Capt. Ken Mullen

After reading the "Perfect Storm" and watching the Discovery channel on the King Crab fishing boats I realized how dangerous it is working those boats. If you haven't read it go read the "Perfect Storm". It's a great view of the life on a fishing boat. The movie was ok but the book shows you every aspect of the crewman's life on a longliner. A very good read.

Commercial fished for 18 yrs, sank once, February with a 65 knot N Easter. Those "Coasties" do a good job and love it. My heart goes out to the family's of those lost, hope that those who were rescued have learned to "never take your eye's off Mother Ocean", don't take Her for granted. If you go out long enough it's not a question of "IF" it's a question of "When", always expect the unexpected, that's your only chance of winning, your chance to fish another day.
