Afterthought or Sleight of Hand? You be the judge

I didn't watch the State of the Union Speech. But parts of it have been highlighted in the media.

One in particular that caught my attention was Obama rattling off the TAX CUTS he'd helped enact. Wow, it was an impressively long list. And, I'd not heard of a one of them, despite paying pretty close attention to things political.

So, I did some checking and here's what I found. Most of the initiatives that are, indeed, tax cuts were unveiled as proposals in a White House press briefing on January 25, 2010, the Monday preceding the address. But he seemed to refer to them in the address in the past tense. I can be excused if I took him seriously enough to look at them.

From what I can tell (and I welcome corrections) none of these are law today.

So, was it a sleight of hand or an afterthought? Or, perhaps something else. For me, it's an indication of how much at "bottom-of-mind" rather than "top-of-mind" the middle class is in Obama's head.

Is Joe Wilson in the house?

I think when you lie (or seem to lie) about things like this you're running scared. What do you guys think?

He's simply doing what he does best. Hoping that people will believe what he says, and trying to play on the foundation of class envy that the left has been building in this country for way too long.

Karl Marx anyone?

It's the same tactic he's using to go after the banks.

He should have learned a lesson from Scott Brown's win and taken a play from the Clinton playbook. Instead, he chose to kick progressive lies up a notch. I predict he will regret this decision.

Hopefully more people continue to see the forest for the trees.

He has reduced not one tax anywhere. He has in fact raised a few.
