So I am. Here is a little brief on me, in the late 60’s I grew up fishing the grass waters of Louisiana around Grand Isle back in the day when redfish were considered trash fish and cooked separate from the speck’s. I moved to Georgia in the late 70’s and had to settle for freshwater fishing, however my first passion is saltwater. Thanks God for big Lake Lanier stripers. I have done some commercial bottom fishing & trolling and really have a big respect for anyone that does any kind of commercial fishing for a living.
After 5 years working as a structural steel ironworker and 2 close calls with death I started a new career in the commercial radio industry 20 years ago. I sell radio advertising, do commercial production and host a weekly outdoor radio show. I also do some reporting on drag boat racing, my favorite motorsport. I have been lucky to witness many records in that sport, including the first sub 5 side by side pass on the liquid quarter mile and many 250+ mph passes. I have also been fortunate to have the privilege of going 350 + mph in a ’57 Chevy, Super Shockwave with Les Shockley. I like fast things.
Most of my fishing now day’s is spent pursuing tasty treats for the dinner table, I love to cook and am always looking for the best tasting fish in fresh & saltwater. My last trip was 2 weeks ago to the SC coast of Pawley’s Island, the fishing was not that hot but the crabbing was and for flavor, Blue’s are hard to beat. My next adventure will be featured on my outdoor radio program, as I will be going after what some people consider the best tasting freshwater fish, the little known Red Finned Pike. A whopper would be around 2 lbs. However it has a tall order to beat my favorite freshwater table fare the yellow perch.
I look forward to being a member on this site, learning a lot and making some new friends. Maybe I’ll even get some topic ideas for Georgia Outdoors Radio. Thanks for reading.
