    401K & Investing???

I know there are some investment folks on here so I will throw this out. I'll be 40 next year and I am invested like this:

    16.65% Bonds
    19.75% Asset Allocation
    63.60% Stocks

I can't touch this stuff for another 25 years at the earliest, but I can move it around as I want. So if I wanted to move my total investment to bonds for 6 months, then split it back up later I could.

Should I be moving this stuff around with a weakening dollar and are my %ages correct?

    Sea Draggin,
Not an investing professional but, at 40 years of age you should certainly be looking to develop a personal financial plan. Your best bet is via a certified financial planner unless you have ample time to dedicate to learning market skills/nuances. You can play around trying to do it inexpensively (may work out positively for you) but what you should be looking to develop in a portfolio is one that is up in good markets but not as far down in bad markets. Pay the professional.

This is just my regular work/matching thing. It doesn't add up to much, but I can play with regularly if I want to. Not taking anything out, but just switching % invested in each catagory, or switching $ between catagories. I have only messed with it twice in the last 6 years. Money and finance definetly is not my thing.

FWIW, sure Bonds look good now but to allocate 100% into any one market/sector is just plain crazy. How do you know this isn't a correction. Don't forget CASH is a position!!! I do all of my investing and handle 2 trading accounts and one Roth IRA. I trend trade and the current markets are trending down!!! Lower highs and lower lows(just look at the charts). I am currently buying Puts and investing in big cap high dividend companies(there is a big difference between "trading" and "investing". Right now it looks as though everything is getting killed but when a recession hits, consumer staples are a good place to be. PG, KO, MO, PEP, ect. are stocks that do well in market downturns. Good luck

Holy cow...i just really took a look at the info. You really need to shoot me a PM bud. Unless you are REALLY open to taking risk, the way this market is going you might need to move some of that around.

Be aggressive at your age. Bonds will kill you in the long run. You are too young to have 16% in bonds.
